The Great Lakes MC Tour

Day 1: Cleveland, OH to Luddington, MI ( 429 miles). We left Cleveland under sunny skies and rode for three hours before getting stuck for three more at a Harley Davidson dealership in Cement City, MI. My bike (SV) had only gears 5 and 6 working - sometimes 4 would work. They squeezed us in and fixed the problem. In 91 degrees, we rode along Hwy 31 along Lake Michigan until 7:30 that night trying to make up some time.
Day 2: Luddington, MI to Sudbury, ONT (455 miles). Still trying to make up lost time we hoofed it across the border at the Soo and followed Hwy. 17 along the northern shore of Lake Huron, again in very hot weather. Eleven hours later through some spectacular scenery, we ended up in Sudbury, ONT where we stayed the night.
Day 3: Sudbury, ONT to Guelph, ONT (347 miles). Finally, a "short" day! Heading south out of Sudbury on Hwy. 69, we rode through fog through even more spectacular scenery along the Georgian Bay. We took a detour at the French River and rode eight miles down a dirt road, so that Bert could reminisce about his boy scout days at Tinnerman and the many canoe trips he led and participated in there. Continuing on under gradually sunny skies, we stopped for lunch at Parry Sound and wondered about the Sportbike Rally they hold there and whether to go up for it one of these years. From Parry Sound we followed Hwy. 69 to Hwy. 21 around the Georgian Bay shoreline to Owen Sound. About eight miles out of O.S. we were stuck in heavy road construction (3" - 4" of heavy, loose, wet gravel, dodging very large earth movers). The excitement continues! At O.S., we headed south on Rt. 6 into Guelph and met Beth, Suzanne and Jac (GGR girls) for dinner. Beth and Daphne (115 lb. Rottie - sweet girl) put us up for the night. Thanks Beth!
Day 4: Guelph, ONT to Cleveland, OH ( 288 miles). Can you say slab???? BORING. 'nuff said.
Enjoy the pics. ;-)
